I've been informed by a few people that I should provide my athletic background information on the website. I guess it's something people want to know.
Around 6 years old, I swam with a summer team and discovered I was faster than most kids my age. This made it fun, so I kept with it for a couple summers. Then our family moved to Georgia in '79, where they had a year round team, so by age
9 I was a year round swimmer...My Athletic History
All kinds of things can go wrong racing triathlons. It could be little tactical errors that cost you valuable seconds in a tight race, a season-ending injury just before your primary race, or some less monumental problem. I'd suggest, in fact, that if you squeak off a race in which nothing goes wrong, thank your lucky stars because that is highly unusual... When Disaster Strikes
