 This
is the second race of a three-race Winter Biathlon series
hosted by Fit To Be Tried Bike & Fitness in Sanford. Chris
Eschbach (57:02) and Leah Harkness (1:13:51) were the overall
winners. This second race starts and finishes at the Camelback
Bridge in Sanford.
Finding the race course is tough if you don't know where
you're going. Here's directions:
US1 south to westbound 421 (exit US1 just after crossing
over 421 on bridge; at bottom of ramp turn left at signal)
421 westbound to Cumnock Road, right onto Cumnock (you'll
travel a few miles on 421, goes from commercial to industrial
type development)
Cumnock Road northbound about 2 or 3 miles to the Deep
River.
As you cross over the river on the new concrete bridge,
look to the left to the old abandoned roadway and steel
truss bridge - that's the starting line. Just after crossing
the bridge there's an intersection and a gravel and grass
parking area to the left, kind of make a U-turn to the left
back towards the old bridge.
