I know the year isn’t over yet, but this year’s reading list is grandiose, almost crass, in it’s length so I’d rather go ahead and trim and log it in the form of a blog post. Some of it was required reading for various things, but I guess I just read a lot over the past year.

We took the 3 year old out trick or treating tonight. Here’s what we learned. I have a track record of doing this and I plan on doing everything I can to do it again next Saturday. I’m going to a World Championship, after all. Yes, perhaps it’s an amateur World Championship, but I have the honor of racing against some fine 40+ now-amateur talent (some of whom used to be pro). This is my big race of the season. The one that I’ve sacrificed Mommy-Remy time on the weekends for. The one I’ve spent ugh-worthy amounts of money for entry fees, plane tickets and a Team USA race kit. This race, I mean business. This post is a week late and I’m not really sure what’s new to say, but I’m committed to getting something down about the little man once a month. This marks 3 years and one month. I’m about five weeks out from ITU Long Course Worlds. For those who speak the race-geek lingo, this is my super A-race, big deal goal of the season. It’s the one that matters to me most. I decided to do the TrySp0rts series this year since it looked like I could do 3 of the 4 required races without any overnight stays. Actually, I could have done all four, but I really wanted to do Lake Logan and really didn’t want to do a pool swim. Unfortunately, my September event got cancelled because too few people signed up for it. Cane Creek Tri down in Waxhaw was my replacement. As of September 7th, Remy’s 3 years old! Wow. Here’s what we did to celebrate and other stuff about the kiddo. Here’s a short post while I continue to dally with writing up the wildly overdue special 3 year old edition of Toddler Talk. My big event in November is looming closer, so some of my training has become more specific. Oddly, this specificity for a completely on-road triathlon took me off-pavement this weekend. He’s old enough to start asking for birthday cake. I’m thinking we make a trip to a bouncy house place. |
