Latest Nursery Pictures
I’m chipping away at the project, but things are really starting to gel with more shapes drawn and filled in with white then a base color. It’s not a realism job, that’s for sure, but I’m really happy with the way it’s turning out. I have a lot of detail work to do before we’re done, though, so I’ll be playing artist for lots and lots more hours. If I billed myself for all the time I’m putting into this, I’m not sure I could afford it. Ha ha! But seriously, the real value is looking around at those four walls and knowing I created it. I sure hope Remy likes it as much as I do!
Here’s some pictures Gary took yesterday. He tried to piece together a 360 degree view.
The tiny fish between the stingray and octopus are my version of a school of sardines. No marine themed mural is complete without sardines.
The yellow fish over the crib are angel fish– can you see the halo’s? The green spikey ball will hopefully somewhat resemble a puffer fish when I’m done. Here’s hoping. You have to admit the red crab is a crazy looking (in a good way) critter.
That wall with the bubbles and unfinished jelly fish is lacking in activity. I’m thinking we include a darting emperor penguin near the bottom middle and a long oar fish along the top in an unrealistic but lively red color. I first thought of doing an electric eel instead of an oar fish, but one of the meanings of the name Remy is “oarsman”, so it seemed only right to go with the namesake version. In all honesty, we wanted to name the child Remarkable, but we knew that would cause too much hullaballoo among friends and family, not to mention strangers, so went with the shortened Remy.
So that’s what the nursery looks like so far. I’ve done a lot, but I have a many more brush strokes to go. I’m getting pretty excited about how it’s going to turn out.

Absolutley Gorgeous Alicia! Gorgeous! What a beautiful nesting instinct you have!!!! It’s such a blessing to be able to create something form your heart to share with a child that you created with your heart as well!
I love it. The crab always catches my eye… and now the starfish and turtles have joined it. One lucky little Remy
It looks great! I love the octapus and the sea turtle.
You are so creative! Remy’s room looks fantastic so far. Your mom says it even looks better in person. Enjoy the process. Bev
