TT’s, 8k’s and BTW’s

I’m trying to resist opening with the snore-worthy comment about being oh-so-busy and not posting promptly.  Oops.  Too late.

Anyway.  Um, last week I think it was, I ended up with a 10 mile cycling time trial Wednesday evening followed by an 8k running race on Saturday.  This, after a pretty heavy training week capped with lotso tempo-effort riding.  Which was right on the heels of Kerr Lake Tri.  So, yeah, I was starting to feel a little shelled.

Recovery e21 is a supplement– it ain’t magic.

About the TT.  This one was #3 of the Doughnut Boys series.  The first shot in April was surprisingly fast.  In fact, so fast that I question the veracity of the numbers that were published.  I’m not really counting that to be a legitimate sub-24 minute result.  Wouldn’t it be nice to back that up with another 23:xx?  Yes, it would, but I fell prey to the siren song of indolence with the wind singing oh-what-does-it-matter-this-is-only-training in my aero helmet covered ears.   So I rode like a 24:02, or close to that I’m not really sure because I never got the official results email.  Slacker.  Both of us, I mean.  At least it was faster than what I rode in May.

Then there was the 8k.  I was so very (not) utterly prepared for this event that I only realized it was a USATF state championship event about 48 hours in advance.  Eh.  Then I learned at packet pick up that there were money prizes for those who are USATF members.  Oops.  Guess what I’m a member now!  Not that I was any kind of threat for the overall’s.  I think the top 5 women ran sub-29 minute 8k’s.  Yeah.  Do the math on that.  Ridonculous.  Fortunately, there were not any similarly-talented 40+ year old women there and a 32:19 was enough to take home the cash.  Or, rather, the pink piece of paper that said “Congratulations!  Your check is in the mail!”  Funny people those race directors.  Kim and Jason.

BTW.  (That means by the way for those not up on 2001 era texter lingo.)  The new job is going super awesome, Remy still is all about the “no” even when he means yes, my heel is bothering me so I haven’t run since the 8k and errr, a bunch of stuff that I’ll only remember when I’m off doing something else.
