My child in a library is like an alcoholic in a bar. I really think he gets a buzz from book “reading” because he just didn’t want to go to sleep last night after Gary got him some new books from the library then he woke up before 6am proclaiming “Go read books!” Mommy Alicia wanted some caffeine first, but she got NO LOVE from the Remmer on that idea.
I hear that many toddlers hone in on one or two favorite books to read over and over again. Remy likes to read books over and over again too. All of them. Most especially, any new ones in the household so that he can best memorize them and quote random passages at various times of the day. For no obvious reason other than to show off.
Now, of course, he’s almost 2 and not really speaking his words super clearly and he typically leaves out those troublesome pronouns and articles, but he does indeed quote kiddy book passages. Gary spends the most time with him during the day and claims that Remy spends hours— HOURS a day with his books.
My Mom emailed the other day to get tips on toys he might like. Remy does play with his toys, but it’s hard to beat books. There’s only a couple things better than reading books and one of them is reading books outside. The other one is related to the fact that Remy is not weaned yet, which doesn’t stress me at all really. Maybe when I decide it’s time, once and for all, we’ll find a kiddy book about stopping breastfeeding. Does something like that even exist?

You should write that book! And sounds like Remy is quite the smart little guy.
