The Vocal Explorer

We’re closing in on 8 months and the Remster is all over the place now.  At first, the crawling was slower and of shorter distances.  No more.  I think he gets faster every day.  He’s quite the pro at cruising all over the place too and has some most excellence marks and scratches to sh0w for some of the more adventurous moves.   Once he’s up and has dropped an item of interest to the floor, he’s even become quite the little pro and sitting back down carefully to investigate.

Favorite places to explore include into the bathrooms to unroll the toilet paper, wherever there are wires and power strips,  into yucky places like trash cans and diaper pails, and anywhere that he can practice standing up.  Speaking of practicing standing up, he also likes to let go of Mommy or Daddy to see how long he can stay up hands free.  At this point, the timespan is best measured in milliseconds, so Mommy and Daddy need to stay alert for this increasingly common passtime.

Last night, he found his voice.  Now, of course he’s been making all sorts of cute baby sounds for many months now, but this is a little different in that it’s louder but not an angry loud.  It’s like he’s trying to talk and will take turns “speaking” if we respond to him.  The best way to explain is through video, so here’s what I’m talking about.

Not a thrilling video to most, admittedly, but first time parents are easily enthused.  Doesn’t sound nearly as loud outside on video as it does in person either.  Who cares.  Grandparents may enjoy this at least.

So, he’s doing his thing.  All the usual baby stuff.
