I really intended to do more purposeful core strength work than I have. You know, like 2-3 times as much as I ended up doing. In all fairness, I have been sitting on one of those balance balls at my desk when I’m working on the computer. But that’s peanuts compared to the dynamic baby lifting exercises at increasing levels of resistance (weight). We got to find out just how much weight the other day at the doctor. Turns out the “little” tyke is still cruising along that 95 percentile line on the height/weight charts at 19 lbs 11 oz. That’s a lot of weight to be tossing around.
Turns out my “regimen” is working. On my two tri bike rides so far, I noticed that I feel a lot more solid and stable flying down hills on bumpy pavement with the wind blowing than I would have expected. There’s something to be said for muscle memory… and innumerable baby presses. I wish my poor stretched out abdomen looked as strong as it feels, but oh well we’ll get there eventually.

My arms look the best they’ve ever looked and it’s all from carting Zach around. Who knew enormous babies could be such a great substitute for weight training?
I lift/do core once or twice a week (lame), but I swear carting Baker around is the best strength workout I’ve ever done on a regular basis!
