Nasrin’s new cycle computer was malfunctioning and wouldn’t revive from the inactive mode. Sleep, the tiny screen read. But what if this was no error of electronics, but rather instructions from a wiser being? Sleep, the being says. Go back to bed. Do not ride.
Heedless of the mini warning, our group of 12 set off on the cool, overcast mid-morning. About a mile later, the rain started. Light rain. Sprinkles. Surely it will abate and we can continue on our merry way. It wasn’t so bad, even though it rained about 80% of the ride.
We covered 50 miles in just under 3 hours. Perfect! I enjoyed the company.
