I just realized that I haven’t had my hair trimmed since before Remy was born. Oops. I’m not saying it’s unusual for me to lollygag for such extensive periods of time between haircuts, it’s that I typically don’t have a memorable landmark such as a birth to tell me exactly how long it’s been. In this case, it’s been about 5 months. That’s probably too long. I promise I’ll get it done this week– after the snow melts. Yeah, it’s supposed to snow today and tonight. They sound pretty certain about it, but we’ll see.
Last time I got my hair cut the lady was questioning my request to thin the hair some (I have thick hair). Are you sure, she asked. Your hair is going to fall out after you give birth. Even though she exaggerated the issue, I know what she was getting at. I had been warned by others that the extra hair my body grew while pregnant would come out at some point.
I don’t know if that’s happened or not. While my hair has resumed it’s pre-pregnancy shower drain clogging rate, it hasn’t exceeded it. I hesitated to mention it earlier because I heard or read somewhere that this happens around 3-4 months post-partum and I didn’t want to pull that trick that I did with the morning sickness where I told my Mom that I didn’t have any of it then found myself in the throes the following day. Since it’s been almost 4 1/2 months, perhaps I’ve surpassed the danger zone.
Any of you post-partum readers noticing any increase in hair loss? Just wondering…
