Every so often, a mysterious box is delivered to our front porch that is nothing we’ve ordered. These boxes are addressed to Remy and hail from out of town friends and family. We seem to be collecting more and more baby clothes, thankfully in larger sizes. We’ve also are seeing an increase in stuffed animal toys that are keeping the little guy company in the crib. It’s quite a zoo in there now.
Speaking of the crib, we’ve started using the crib more and the bassinet less. When he wriggles around in the bassinet (presumably from gas-tummy troubles) it makes almost as much racket as a mother squirrel trying to break her babies out of a cage. That’s quite a racket, as I and my immediate family members can attest, but that’s a story for a different time. So back to the original point. Gary swears Remy doesn’t like the bassinet, so we’ve started to experiment with keeping him in the crib for longer periods of time to get him accustomed to the new digs. So far it’s going OK. My only worry is that I might not hear him from our bedroom across the hall where I’m sleeping until he gets so worked up he’s crying and difficult to pacify rather than just mildly irritated. Well…at his growth rate, we’ll need to give up the bassinet sooner rather than later any way, so we might as well start now.
He also sleeps on the couch on a blanket or in the in-bed sleeper thing that we use on the couch rather than a bed because our bed isn’t big enough for two adults plus the sleeper. We can tuck the Remster in between us on the bed if we’re careful, but don’t do that very often. It’s much better if there’s just one of us plus the baby. I do like waking up with Remy right next to me. It’s pretty awesome.
If he’s sound asleep from being held and/or fed, we can put him in the bassinet attachment of the Pack And Play downstairs, but that’s not somewhere he will want to be if not already in dreamland. The bouncy chair with the vibrator going can often work, although he hasn’t been going for it the past few days.
By far, Remy’s favorite sleep location is on Mommy’s or Daddy’s chest, especially with a full tummy and clean diaper. If you’re attentive, you can catch a sleepy silly smile light across his face when he’s in this ideal state. That is like baby heaven.

Zach’s favorite sleep place is on our chest as well. Figuring out where the little guys will sleep is such a process of trial and error.
Every new mom seems to say that about sleeping on the chest… good info to know… although must be somewhat limiting for mom!
the squirrel story. . . . hmmmm….
