But no one warned me he’d grow out of his 0-3 month clothes in a little over a month. The 3-6 month clothing is fitting quite well at 5 1/2 weeks, thank you very much. There are 6 month old babies who can wear this size? What? You must be kidding me.
Yesteray, we used the car seat for the first time in a couple weeks and his growing noggin wouldn’t fit into that head cradler insert thingie. Then we realized that we needed to move the shoulder straps up to the largest setting. Already. I think we can use the seat up to 20 lbs. We got one of those rear-facing infant ones, so we’ll need a bigger one at some all-too-near point in the future. Thank goodness we bought used instead of investing in a new one.
We bought this expensive infant insert for the jogger stroller, which we started using for walks and a few jogs at 2 weeks. At first, we tucked a hand towel around the outside of his head because there the insert didn’t fit close enough. Now his head barely fits at all and his shoulders are already a little wide. If he grows out of this device, does that mean he’s safe to go in the jogger stroller without it? I hadn’t really counted on having an in-between phase where he’s too big and too small to ride safely in the jogger stroller. His neck is getting pretty strong, so perhaps we’ll be OK. And I thought we might use the insert with a bike trailer, once we felt more comfortable about him being ready to do that. Oh, and once we buy a bike trailer, that is.
The box of things we can no longer use is close to overflowing. We need a bigger box. I expected this to happen, but not so soon. Gary and I were both on the small to average size when young, so we didn’t expect this, but we’re proud of our healthy, big boy. Remind us not to blink and miss him grow an inch!

OH my goodness! Graham, our son, didn’t weigh 20 lbs at 1 year old!!! See…when the twins were born at 4 1/2 lbs it took them 9 months to catch up and weigh 15 lbs or whatever….so it was a very long long long long (did I say long?) 9 months after they were born b/c they were SOOOO tiny for so long + at that size we had to pump, then feed them through little syrniges in the beginning every 2 hours to plump them up. Oh, the good ol days!
I am living down memory lane when I read your blog!
Glad R is doing soo well!
definitely post some pictures of him in the jogging stroller! and bike trailer, once you use that. glad he’s big and healthy!
Luc was waaay over 9 pounds and was immediatley in 3-6 months clothes for an entire week. I swear comapnies make these clothes purposely small so we all think…… “My kid is so big! WOW”. Luc was 20 pounds at 4 MONTHS!!!!
I have to say that some of his best naps were in the jogger. We got the rain cover and there were many days where I would run with him in 20 degree weather where he was warm and toasty inside!!!!!
