Four Miles

That’s what I’ve run so far total.  Tuesday’s run was much slower and with the baby-filled jogger, so the hills turned big again.  Today it was time for a break so we went for a nice long walk instead.  I’m not one of those runner types who can run every day and not fall to pieces.  Never have been and I’m definitely not now.  One challenge I’ve had is breaking out in hives after both runs, which were quickly addressed with Benadryl.  I guess hormonal fluctuations are to blame for that.  I’m not buying the argument that I should stop running because of this, although it definitely means I shouldn’t go hog wild with mileage.

I look forward to riding Nancy again but want to wait until I’m sure the stitches are all healed.  My Monday appointment had all but one stitch gone, so I figure by this weekend or maybe early next week I can take the cruiser out for a short spin.  Can’t be gone for long, though, because of hungry Remy.  Nothing would make that kid happier than to be permanently attached to my breasts.  That and be held while he sleeps every time.  I think I need six arms and to learn how to change diapers and breastfeed while sleeping.  I’ve heard of sleepwalking– how about sleep-diaper changing?  Sounds good to me.

  • I’ve never heard of the hives thing. That’s interesting. I wouldn’t stop running either. :) But I have to ask… I guess the engorgement thing is under control enough that you feel like you can run? How long did that part take?

Ahh… there is no joy like those first post-partum runs. Light as a feather!

I’m sorry about the meltdown.. it’s a new mom requirement, all that sleep deprivation adds up. I hope it was your only one. Way to get back out there!

And don’t let anyone give you and crap about running.. you know your body best. I wore two bras and was out there on the pavement loving life 7-8 days pp.

Running up hills with the baby jogger is killer. I am not sure if it ever gets much easier since the little guys just keep gaining weight!

Weird about the hives, but if that is your only issue on the run then that is great. I know a couple ladies who had persistent knee pain for weeks due to hormones. Sounds like you are all are doing wonderful.

  • Hooray! 4 miles is wonderful – keep up the great work!
