On The Move

Remy’s not entirely predictable, but I’m beginning to get a sense of his sleep/wake cycles.  Some days I feel more motion than others, but here’s what I do know:

1. When I’m walking or running, he sleeps.  I know this for sure because on a couple of occasions, going down hills especially, I can feel a really super relaxed fetus limb brushing against the inside of my uterus.  Veeeery relaxed.  It tickles too.

2. I don’t have to be awake for Remy to be awake.  Yesterday morning I groggily rose from bed as someone did a kickboxing class in my abdomen.  That is a strange feeling.  I imagine it will be an even more surprising sensation when he gets bigger.

3. He’s most active just after meals and snacks.  Yeeee-haa!  Food!  Let’s get a move on!  It doesn’t matter what kind of food, or even need to be remotely sweet.  Tonight’s dinner was heavily protein and veggies with very little carbohydrate, but he’s been going all evening.

I’m really beginning to feel big.  The weather cooled off and tonight we had a Durham Bulls baseball game to go to.  I put on my trench coat that I got for Christmas.  I couldn’t close it, so I wore one of Gary’s coats.  It was really nice to have something fit me too loose for a change.

Throughout my whole pregnancy I rode, I swam, I ran, I was so active. The only problem is that I had a baby who wanted to always be on the move! HA HA! Many many long runs were done with him in the baby jogger! Keep it up Alicia!

Can you let me know where you have registered? And your address?

    Mary!

I was going to leave the same note at Mary (minus the swimming). My boy has not stopped moving, now 5 years later. When he was a baby, he did not like just being held – the only way he would stand for just snuggling was if we did so while bouncing on the exercise ball.

He asked this weekend if we could do the jogging stroller again. I said, if you get out and run up the hills. He thought that sounded fun, so we will give it a whirl (once my achilles recovers from the Owls Roost trail half-marathon).

I am nostalgic for being woken up by the boy moving around like that. :-)

  • Hi Alicia – I’ve checked in on your blog a couple of times – your mom told me about it. I just had to chime in – and I’m certainly not an emotional person….but after both my boys were born (18-19yrs ago!!) I remember missing the movement that you’re posting about. After they were born – as they were in the bassinet beside me in the hospital – I actually MISSED THEM KICKING ME!!! Both times – first w/C-section, second, au natural….So seriously, enjoy it in vitro! ! Karen

Don’t you just love those feelings???? Wait until you see feet popping out of your belly…WILD. And yes, Whew. Brooke is defintely a doer and mover and think it all had to do with non-stop working out while pregnant. Just think they get used to that constant movement but wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s a little sports fanatic. Cheers!!
