Today Gary and I went hiking at the Eno River. We did the Cox Mountain and Fanny’s Ford trails. It was a great day for hiking and there’s a good hill we climb on Cox Mountain trail that got my heart rate up pretty good. Gary saw a lizard. He says it was brown, which makes sense because he saw it on the brown bark of a tree. Then we saw a frog. It hopped away. Then we stopped at the river and saw a big water moccasin sunning on a rock. It was awesome. I bet the girls sitting on the other side of the boulder nearby would have had a hissy fit if they’d seen it. Wish we had a camera.
P.S. Congrats to local triathletes and previous team members of mine, Chris Tommerdahl and Paul McCall, for their great performances this morning at Collegiate Tri Nationals.

omg a WATER MOCCASIN?!?!?!?! how cool!!! and the nearby girls… typically, in my experience anyway, girls aren’t into snakes. especially the poisonous ones.
anyhow, reptile sightings are always a good thing, right? were you more psyched about the lizard or the snake? or the froggy?! they are cute.
