Spring Weather

You northerners probably read blogs down south about 70 degree days and think that once it gets warm down here, it stays warm.  It doesn’t.  In fact, in the North Carolinian latitudes, Spring is a series of warming climes followed by a cold front.  Repeat process umpteen zillion times from late February through mid May where the temperatures gradually get a little warmer and therefore the cold less cold.  The only thing one is guaranteed by beautiful, warm days like this past Thursday and Friday is that they will be followed by punishingly colder temps within 48 hours.  OK, so maybe to some of you high’s in the 50′s don’t sound all that punishing, but if you were just out riding in short sleeves and shorts in 75 degrees less than 24 hours ago, you’d have to agree that it feels a little punitive, even if not intended that way.  But we get by, because that’s just how the weather rolls around here.

As I type this, the 44 degree wind is howling in cooler temperatures and the occasional rain droplet splattering on the skylight.  I was fortunate that I was able to get my work done in the morning and took advantage of yesterday’s sunshine and warmth for a nice 3 hour ride.  So today.  What to do today?  I’ll stretch and do yoga.  Will I go out and run?  Undecided.  Get on the trainer for a bit?  Undecided.  After the “long” ride yesterday, an easy day would do me good, but what about Sunday?  The weather doesn’t look any better.   Ah, well, I’ll just take it a day at a time.  No worries.
