Last night I decided that I didn’t want to run in cold drizzly dark so decided to give the Powercranks another try. After suffering through Monday night’s second time on the cranks, I wasn’t expecting a, shall we say, joyous experience. Imagine my surprise when after 5 minutes, 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, I didn’t feel the overwhelming need to stop. I couldn’t believe it. Not counting the time about a minute in where I did something strange and unclipped accidentally, I didn’t have to stop until almost 30 minutes into the workout. Amazingly, I lasted a little over an hour and only stopped 3 times, including that first time with the unclipping thing. I am very proud of this achievement.
So this is two days this week where I Powercranked instead of ran, so I’m not running daily, but I think it’s an adequate substitute. The weekly mileage suffers a little, but oh well. I’m just aiming for an average of an hour a day of moderate exercise, whether that be on the bike or running, but rarely going all that much longer than an hour. I did get pretty sleepy tired the next day after both riding (with the Parata boys, they were killing me on the hills) and running last Tuesday, so I think it’s best to be moderate about this exercise thing.
