OK. I’ve been holding out on you guys for over 24 hours now. As you know, The Crumpler and I have been trying to start a family. Oh, don’t even feign suprise. If you read this blog, you know it. If you read Community Sports News, you know it. If you are our parents or were at the party at Danielle’s last night, you know something else.
That something else was us buying one of those early detection home pregnancy kits. You know the kind where they say in the advertisements that are 99% accurate up to 5 days before your missed period, begging the question “well how do you know you missed it if it isn’t time yet?” Well, I tell you why. There are reasons to suspect. As an athlete, a girl becomes pretty tuned into her body and when something is different, I’m asking why. Usually, the suspects for feeling different are food allergies, training levels, sleep schedules, what have you.
This time I suspected a different cause, so we tested Saturday. Positive. Never mind waiting the full 3 minutes for the reading either. Don’t get too excited yet, sez Gary. Keep everything on the down low. We test again Sunday. POSITIVE.
No, we haven’t been to the doctor yet to “be sure”, whatever that means other than spend five times as much for someone else to do that same test then tell you that you’re ancient (37) in childbearing years and must spend ten times as much money in doctors visits and supplemental tests. The darned test is 99% accurate and we did it twice. The result wasn’t exactly borderline barely faint second pink stripe on the indicator either.
So there. The first month we tried and it’s a done deal. Now I have a pretty clear timeline to work with and hopefully I don’t screw anything up too badly. We. Are. Preggers.

Wonderful news!
Congratulations to the two of you.

CONGRATULATIONS! Only the best to you on an AWESOME new year and new life with a little bundle of joy! Keep running, swimming, and biking…and when you run down the road with your sports bra on and big belly hanging out BE PROUD! By the way, I found that the CG sports bra works REALLY good when you get your big boobs! AND make sure to stock up on lots of ginger tea in case you get the morning (or in my case all day) sickness!
Go mommy go!
