Weeeellll…I did check my work email today, but I didn’t commit much time to the process, so this Monday was a true holiday. Since we are not travelling today, unlike many of you burning rubber on the tarmac from hither to yon, I had some time to do whatever I wanted to. Sounds like a good enough reason to make a list, so here we go:
1. I read pieces parts of several books on my list, so already I progress on my reading objectives. I can feel the dendrites growing into pure, erudite wisdom as I type. I particularly like when I’m reading two different books that seem to contradict each other. Something about being able to predict darned near everything crunching humongous volumes of data according to Ian Ayres, while Nassim Taleb harps on the belief that the most consequential occurences are unpredictable and isn’t it a shame that so many people get overly confident in their ability to predict the future and end up blindsided. Don’t be a turkey, he says. That Nassim– such a witty fellow.
2. We tried to get the final set up of the iBike complete, but had some trouble, so we’ll give it another go later this week and get some expert help if we still are’t techno-geek enough to figure out what went wrong. The instructions don’t say anything about holding your mouth in a certain way and tapping your heels three times, but they might as well with all the pairing and battery flipping going on. Oh imagine the plethora of data I’ll be swimming in when I get this bad boy humming! Side benefit to the process was getting about 13 miles of riding in on a nice, sunny day.
3. Then I went for a run. Of course! Oh yeah, about that “run every day” goal. That presumes I’m not down in the dumps with a stupid cold. No work outs Monday through Thursday, but I got back on the wagon this past Friday and have logged over 20 miles since then. All felt great, including today. Nice.
4. The Crumpler and I got the genius idea to go buy some new vent covers to match our new floor at the big blue store. While we’re at it, also get some more Leaping Lizard green paint to touch up some areas in the dining room that are wonky from our house settling in these drought conditions. Plus some brick dye to jazz up the fireplace so it doesn’t look so dull and boring against our snazzy, new floor. And a whole list of other things. We arrive just in time to see them close for the evening. Oops.
So that’s my day. Come to find out that the trash / recycle / yard waste pick up fella’s came by after all. We weren’t entirely sure it would happen today, but by this evening we saw overturned and empty blue buckets. Oops again. Now we’ve got a backlog of recyclables. Not to the mention the large piles of tree branches and holly bush clippings currently adding some stylish we-do-yard-work-but-only-half-way cachet to our home’s curb appeal. Really adds to the half new-floor-without-baseboards and half “under construction” look inside our lovely home. Sweet.

Brilliant new blog! LOVE IT! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and ALL that other great stuff. Looks awesome.
