It’s been a while since anyone has joined me and Kayak Gary at the Monday night swim at the lake. Not sure why. Maybe they just don’t love me anymore. Maybe they like staring at black lines at the bottom of a pool better. I dunno. At any rate, the low water levels and dropping [...] The Crumpler was at Duke 1/2 with the digital camera. The first ones (1-6) are at the beginning of the bike right at the park exit. Next is Marty at the beginning of the run. Then Alex M. into and out of transition. Paul finishing the [...] Today I worked the ETTT team tent at the Duke 1/2 ironman. The men’s race was phenomenal. The local guys really laid it out there, as told by the looks on their faces as they struggled the final paces through the cave of pain to the finish line. Yes, I know going downhill faster always makes them seem shorter, but it was more pronounced today, and I’m pretty sure most of you know what I [...] Rain at last. Praise God Almighty. Rain at last. It was raining when I went swimming earlier today, which means I’m a bad @$$. I mean, who chooses to go swim 3.3 miles when it’s raining out? Bad @$$es, that’s who. Well. It’s a recovery ride for me and a workout for him because Crump’s not real into this daily endurance self-flagelation that I enjoy partaking in. Thus– [...] We weren’t dreaming when we looked on our front porch and found our newly delivered luggage. All four pieces– bike box included– and just under one week late. Oh, the impossible dream…all intact? Well, mostly. My fancy aero banana hat had it’s shell cracked. Bummer. Looks like I either get a loaner from teamies or resort [...] I believe it’s a natural part of the training and preparation for any stretch assignment. While I’m preparing for the big game- the monster day- the jumbo challenge, I’m testing myself as I go by trying bits and pieces of what I can reasonably expect to encounter when it matters. Sometimes it goes well and [...] My luggage is still not here. We do have a delivery date, finally, and it is this coming Monday. Via FedEx, no less. So, either you have a US Air flight delay itself a few minutes so 7 of us could make the connection, or you send people all over creation and end up sending [...] |
