What? New Year’s? Is this post mis-dated? What the heck? You read right. It’s my new year…my 38th (because now I’m 37). Yesterday was my birthday and being the good little Leo that I am, I must announce this fact for attention aggrandizement, because that’s what we do, us Leos. Or so sez the astrology [...] No. I’m not doing Kona. But Nasrin and Denise are and I rode with them today, so I guess you could say I participated in the training. Actually, I was supposed to meet them and the whole group at 7am but I went to the wrong place. I figured it out eventually so took off [...] I went swimming this morning. I was just SO sure that the water was going to be stifling after the continued high temperatures and extreme lack of precipitation we’ve encountered here. Miracle of miracles– the water was nice. Maybe low 80′s. Just perfect! It was just me and a yellow kayak driven by Gary. It [...] They are drug testing amateurs in Germany! That’s right– those of us on Team USA just got an email (reproduced here) alerting us to take a look at our meds and be sure to get a TUE if there is anything questionable. Enjoy… So tonight I did my long run because I’ve been doing those mid-week to save up those weekend hours for stupid high (yet fun) mileage on the bike. I’m running long mainly because I signed up for the Woodlands 101 race in November. November sounds like it’s a long ways away, but I took a look [...] Ever read some old blog post of mine and I say that I’ll write on some follow up topic someday and you think, “how interesting” but I never do? Or perhaps you have a topic that you’re pondering and you, for some bizarre reason, wonder what my opinion might be? Or maybe you just have [...] I usually head south or southwest when I ride from Durham, but today I went north. Now, I don’t really know the roads up there that well, so I had a route all mapped out with all turns and street names on a piece of paper. This presumes, of course, that all streets are labeled [...] I love these rides. I always walk away with a thousand little memories of all the funny and interesting things that happened. Today was no different. First, the big news. I felt good. Over 100 in some parts of North Carolina yesterday and supposed to be hotter today. That’s not including the heat index, and for those of you in the Southwest, this isn’t desert dry heat so you can just go on ahead with your 110 degree blah blah blah. [...] |
