Since Monday was Memorial Day, and on that day the lake is filled with innumerable and often innebriated boaters, skiiers and ski-dooers, we moved our open water swim to Wednesday night. Here’s who was there:
- Chris Tommerdahl
- Stacey Richardson
- JoAnna Younts
- Alicia Parr
- Duncan Hoge
- Andrew Herring
- Jen Parks
The air was warm in the high 80′s and the water wasn’t much cooler. There were cool spots in places dictated by currents, but 85 degree water makes for a toasty swim. Since I am resting up for Kerr Lake, I intended to swim pretty relaxed and only for 40-45 minutes. Then we were swimming out towards the eagle’s nest and I’m following Duncan and Chris. I am pleased that I don’t get dropped even though I’m not swimming hard at all. Maybe my non-wetsuit swimming is coming around now. Here’s hoping! Anyway, by the time we turn around and head back in, I end up with 57 minutes out there, which is longer than I thought I’d do. Oh well. It felt pretty good, and that is what’s important.
