Gluten intolerance, which I have, means that there are lots of things that I can’t eat or drink and beer has been one of them. Outside some fairly typical moments in college, I’ve never been that big of a drinker but, you know, I did enjoy a good quality beer. Unfortunately, beer is made from gluten-containing grains, so NO beer. (I had always wondered why I got all puffy after drinking beer.)
Recently my awesome husband did a little research and discovered that there is such a thing a gluten-free beer! Yes!!! They have three kinds at the local Whole Foods and he came home with two six packs– Bard’s Tale and New Grist.
I drank one of each with dinner and they’re both good, although New Grist is a little smoother. I felt kinda foggy and tired with two beers in my system, even paired with dinner, but it was nice to have the option. Oh, and I woke up in the middle of the night REALLY thirsty. But nonetheless, I can drink beer again!
