Gluten Sensitivity is The Pits

Argggh!!!!  I was doing so well avoiding those evil glutenous poisons.

For those that don’t know, I have this stupid gluten sensitivity that is pretty obnoxious.  If I eat anything with gluten (no wheat, rye, oats, or barley) or a derivative thereof, I feel like kaka for days and not back to normal for a good week.  I’m not going to be gross and provide details, but suffice it to say the digestive tract REALLY doesn’t like it and my skin breaks out in rashes too.  And I feel all swollen and puffy.  Super unpleasant.

With some education and due care, avoiding the obvious sources isn’t too hard.  It’s those hidden buggers that’s the tough ones.  Fortunately, food processors & manufacturers are getting better at noting on the package when something has been manufactured in a facility that also has wheat glutens flying around in the air.  Well, they don’t say it like that, but manufactured in a facility that also processes wheat products.  That, I think, is what got me this time.  I think it might be those pumpkin seeds from Trader Joe’s.

So me and my big, uncomfortable tummy just tried to go for a run.  Didn’t work out.  Which stinks, because my legs felt great.  Like I said, Arghh!!!!

Stupid gluten.
