I’m back at training gradually and back at running even more gradually. First run was last Sunday and the hip was still sore but more manageable. It kept it short and on trails. Then my right shin hurt. An ART session or two and I ran again yesterday. This time 5 miles. I could feel the hip a little, but just a dull ache. I started quick and relaxed then increased the effort as I felt the heat and lacking fitness creep in on me. My speed was OK, but it hurt more than a 6:50 pace should. And I’m pretty sore today. More in my back than anything.
After tonight’s trainer session on the sauna-esque backporch, I’m ready for my well-earned 2nd day off this week. I have to be ready for Sunday’s ride with the tri-boyz who will surely rip my legs off as I try and stay in their slipstream at a “moderate” 22-23 mph average for 50+ miles. “You won’t have any trouble keeping up Alicia.” Yeah, if I were FIT.
I look forward to the challenge.
