Foam Roller Reprise

So I go to a Physical Therapist today to check out the hip problem to see if it’s terminal. Rob Schneider at Balanced Movement is great, by the way. He checked some things out and I learned the following:

1. it’s not a stress fracture or anything that can’t be fixed fairly quickly (yay!)

2. my underlying problem for this and many other issues I have is poor usage of internal core muscles and an s-curve posture. Oh, and I’m not permitted to wear high heeled shoes.

3. the pain is not referred and the foam roller is a good tool to attack the trouble spot right where it hurts.

I also have some exercises to address the weak inner core problem over the long term, and will get a referral to an ART practitioner that should get me ready to race.

So tonight I’ve rolled my glutes and hips, and there’s some loosening. I’ll do the exercises too.

Here’s hoping…

    You aren’t to wear high heels!! I hope that there weren’t any in the bunch that you recently purchased. How high should you not go over?
